Eurolines ... cheap but not cheerful
I needed to get to Paris on a budget at very short notice. Eurolines was able to sell me a seat on a coach for £35 + £5 booking fee + £3 priority boarding. Compared to Eurostar / flying this was very good at very short notice.
Despite it being cheap, you do want decent service, however.
We lined up where requested at the coach station but at the last minute a man came over and took us to a different line out to a coach. There was no priority boarding. It was just a huge free for all as people just swarmed around the coach. Initially, there was confusion about which bus we were to get on and yet we were all standing among the vehicles.
I was able to get on the bus first as advertised but only because a steward told the driver I had asked about it.
There were delays at Dover that were out of their control. However it meant that the driver had to take an extra 45 min rest break at CDG airport. This is perfectly fine but we arrived 2.5 hours late. Eurolines don't provide co drivers for emergencies.
The frustration for everyone, including the driver, was the lack of communication. The driver on the London Paris route was Portuguese and was unable to communicate with us about the delays. We were unable to explain that the toilet needed a clean and more paper. A few people got very angry and left the bus and no-one really understood what was going on.
None of this was the driver's fault. The company caused the problems by not providing a co driver or someone who was able to communicate in at least one of the relevant languages.

complete chaos, terrible driver
i took a trip to paris from victoria station and return. where to start.. very disappointed, terrible service.
disorganization at the Victoria Station. not even a signs where to go! I found out everything from people who were queuing. If you travel first time you will be completely lost.. and driver? another story didn't speak english?!? only french!?! English is not my first language either but we have to communicate..
